Dutch sustainable carpet tiles for Brazilian government building
A Dutch
company which makes innovative, sustainable carpeting, Desso,
is supplying the new administrative centre of the State of Minas
Gerais, Brazil. The company will provide
over 75,000 m2
of carpet tiles for the project which will be overseen by world-renowned
architect Oscar Niemeyer. The Desso carpeting meets
the demanding requirements of an environment where a steady flow of people will
pass through on a regular basis. Desso's carpet tile
was chosen because of its optimal sound absorption and insulation as well as
its eco-efficient benefits. The tiles feature Desso's
new acoustic backing product 'SoundMaster' which
offers a significant 60 percent improvement in acoustic sound performance. The
carpet can absorb light, reduce glare and soak up noise. Moreover, the product
is made from 100 percent recycled polyester. In 2010 Desso
aims that 75 percent of all its carpet files will be Cradle to Cradle
certified.
